Skip hire, booked in a few taps. A Squarespace website for Binn Group.

TwoFifths Design, a website design and development studio in Edinburgh, designed and built the new website for Binn Group, Scotland’s leading recycling and resource management company. Built on Squarespace 7.1 with a custom JavaScript booking journey, it turns skip hire from a phone call into something anyone can complete themselves, in a few taps, on a phone.

A skip hire booking journey built from scratch.

Squarespace has no native way to book a skip, so we wrote one. A custom JavaScript journey takes the customer through postcode, skip size, waste type, date and payment, one decision at a time. Smart postcode matching finds the nearest depot, and a closest-match fallback means addresses just outside a delivery zone still get routed correctly rather than hitting a dead end.

Choosing the right skip, without the guesswork.

Skip sizes mean very little to someone hiring one for the first time. The skip hire page explains each size in terms of the job it suits, sets out what can and cannot go in, and confirms delivery and collection before payment, so nobody is guessing at the point they commit.

Designed for the phone in your hand.

Most skip enquiries start on a phone, often standing in the middle of the job. Every page was designed mobile first in Squarespace 7.1 Fluid Engine, with tap targets sized for one thumb and a booking journey that works as well on a building site as it does at a desk.

Imagery made to order, with Adobe Firefly.

Waste management is a hard thing to photograph well, and stock libraries are full of the same grey lorries. We generated bespoke imagery in Adobe Firefly instead, matched to Binn Group’s blue and built around Scottish landscapes, so every page looks like the company it belongs to rather than anyone else.

Business services, explained without the sales pitch.

Commercial waste covers a lot of ground, from bins and containers to scheduled collections across Central Scotland. Rather than bury it all in one long page, each service opens in a pop up panel, so a facilities manager can compare options quickly without losing their place or wading through copy meant for someone else.

A family story, told properly.

Binn Group started on a hillside farm in Perthshire with a father and son, and it is still family run today. The About page gives that story room to breathe, tracing the line from farming roots to one of Scotland’s circular economy leaders. It is the page that separates them from national competitors, so we designed it to be read rather than skimmed.

One question at a time, all the way to checkout.

On mobile the journey becomes a series of single questions. Where should we deliver, where will the skip be placed, which size, which dates. Each step asks one thing, shows progress along the top, and lets people go back without losing what they have entered. Nothing is asked twice, and the price is clear before anyone reaches checkout.
