Binn Group: a skip hire booking journey built for Scotland’s leading recycler
TwoFifths Design, a website design and development studio in Edinburgh, built the skip hire booking journey for Binn Group. Binn is Scotland’s leading recycling and resource management company, family run, with more than 25 years of expertise and over 170 employees. The brief was to turn skip hire from a phone call into a booking anyone could complete themselves, in a few taps, on a phone.
The brief
Skip hire is a simple purchase with a lot of hidden complexity. The customer needs to know whether Binn covers their postcode, which skip size suits the job, what can and cannot go in it, and when it can be delivered. Get any of that wrong and the booking becomes a phone call, or it does not happen at all.
Solving the postcode problem
Coverage is the first question and the easiest place to lose someone. We built the widget around a postcode lookup with closest match fallback, so a postcode just outside a known area returns the nearest serviceable option rather than a dead end. Customers get an answer immediately instead of an error.
Choosing the right skip
Skip sizes mean little to someone hiring one for the first time. The journey explains each size in terms of the job it suits, sets out what can and cannot go in, and confirms delivery before payment, so the customer is never guessing at the point they commit.
Handing it over
A booking tool is only useful if the client can run it. We shipped the widget with a written editing guide so the Binn team can update sizes, pricing and coverage themselves, without coming back to us for routine changes.
